Mongolian Winter Travel Photo Diary: A lovely couple's Adventure

An adventurous young couple from Singapore, embarked on a daring winter expedition to Mongolia, where temperatures plummeted from their usual +28°C to a bone-chilling -30°C. Their 11-day journey, meticulously curated by Premium Travel Mongolia based on their request, unfolded as an extraordinary experience, blending unique activities and breathtaking landscapes.

The couple's winter escapade kicked off with five days of exploration in the picturesque far Northern Mongolia including the Jargant River and Taiga area, where they encountered real reindeer riders and enjoyed a horse sleigh ride on the frozen lake next to Lake Khovsgol. In the latter part of their journey, they explored the stunning Terelj National Park, engaging in soft adventures such as horse riding, dog-sledding, and archery. A brief stop included a photo encounter with an eagle perched on their arm.

Wildlife enthusiasts, the couple visited Hustai National Park, encountering the wild Przewalski horse Takhi. A visit to the Bayan Gobi sand dunes on a romantic snowy and foggy day added a touch of magic to their trip. They engaged with a nomadic family near the sand dunes, learning to prepare Mongolian dishes and participating in traditional games.

Navigating the challenges of winter travel in Mongolia, Xavier, and Syazwani found refuge in an en-suite lodge in the far Northern reaches—one of the coldest regions in the country. Despite limited accommodation options during the winter, the couple spent eight nights in an en-suite Ger or wooden lodge, one night in a basic Ger camp, and two nights in a hotel.
