How to get to Mongolia in 2024?

One of the primary ways to reach Mongolia is by taking a flight. In 2020, a new international standard and larger airport were launched in Khoshigt Valley, about 52 km southwest of Ulaanbaatar. This Chinggis Khaan Airport has become the major international gateway, promising a brighter future for international flight connections.
Currently, several major carriers operate flights to and from Ulaanbaatar, including MIAT (Mongolian Airlines), Air China, Korean Air, Turkish Airlines, Air Busan, Asiana Airlines, Jeju Air, T'way Air, VietJet, Aeroflot, Hunnu Air, Eznis, and Aero Mongolia. These flights connect Ulaanbaatar to cities such as Beijing, Seoul, Busan, Tokyo, Istanbul, Berlin, Frankfurt, Moscow, Hong Kong, Jeju, and Bangkok.
We've previously mentioned that there are plans for a direct flight between the USA and Mongolia in 2024. Starting from September 6, 2023, MIAT has begun code-sharing with Turkish Airlines for flights to Ulaanbaatar from Chicago, USA, with tickets now available. The flight from Chicago to Istanbul will have the code "OM," and the connecting flight will be from Istanbul to Ulaanbaatar. MIAT has indicated that this is part of the preparations for the direct flight between the USA and Mongolia, which is planned for the first half of 2024.
