Khongor sand dunes, Gobi

Is Mongolia’s largest and most beautiful sand dunes that stretch for about 200km and at some parts heights as tall as 200m. Also called the Singing Dunes, Khongor has a beautiful oasis and a small stream, and some meadows giving visitors an exceptional chance to admire the Gobi at its’ best. Sunset watching at Khongor is amazing. The oasis is about 5hr drive from Dalanzadgad Airport.

Bayanzag Flaming Cliffs

Bayazag is a beautiful valley with Gobi saxaul trees, red earth cliffs, and sand. In the 1920s American explorer, Roy Chapman Andrews made Bayanzag world famous as he found nests of dinosaur eggs – the first ones the world has seen, as well as well-preserved fossils of many unknown dinosaur species from here. The name Flaming Cliffs was claimed to be given by Mr. Andrews himself. Bayanzag is about a 1.5hr drive from the Gobi airport.

Yol Gorge of Gobi Gurvan Saikhan national park

Discover the enchanting secrets of Yoliin Am, also known as Vulture's Gorge, nestled within the captivating landscapes of Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park. This stunning canyon, sculpted by water erosion over countless years, boasts rocky cliffs and a spring that winds its way through the valley. During July, the spring freezes into a breathtaking corridor of ice, offering a unique spectacle.

However, in recent years, global warming has caused changes, and the ice now melts by mid-August. As you follow the canyon to its end, you'll be greeted by a picturesque wide valley, home to rare wildlife such as Argali wild sheep, Ibex, and various birds of prey. The surrounding mountains also shelter many small rodents endemic to the Gobi.

A small museum at the entrance provides insightful information about the petrified trees, fauna, and flora of the Gobi. For the most enjoyable experience, we recommend exploring the canyon on foot, savoring its beauty on a 1.5-2km trek.
